Greenback School’s search for a new head football coach took an unexpected turn Monday when the program’s new hire announced his resignation.

Zack Rayl, previously a defensive coordinator for Riverdale High School, was confirmed as the Cherokees’ new head coach March 8 but stepped down less than two weeks later.
