I just read in the News-Herald that our mayors said that Loudon County residents could exercise their “personal choice” about wearing a protective mask during this epidemic. I would think that it would be common sense to wear a mask to protect your friends and neighbors from a deadly virus.

Since you can be a carrier without knowing it, wearing a mask could be the least that you could do to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Since I walk the sidewalks every day, should I be concerned that someone will exercise their “personal choice” and run over me? I wonder if I get stopped for speeding could I get off by saying that I was exercising my “personal choice?"
