Alice Elizabeth Smith Kellar, of Louisville, Ky., and formerly of Lenoir City, passed from this life to journey on to her next great adventure Sunday, June 14, 2020.
She was born Dec. 6, 1926, at home in Lenoir City. She lived there until 2003 when she moved to Louisville, Ky., to be closer to her daughter. An accounting wiz, she worked for several companies in Tennessee, including the dairy division of the University of Tennessee School of Agriculture and Rose Carpetland. She retired from Tennecomp Corp., in Oak Ridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel (Hagler) and John W. Smith; sister, Pauline (A.B.) Goodwin; brother, John G. (Ella) Smith; and niece, Johnnie Sue Giffin.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki (Jerry) Schopmeyer; grandsons, Michael (Kate Burke) Schopmeyer and Jonathan Schopmeyer; nieces, Ruth Cagle and Glenda Smith-Strader; and nephews, Gary R. Goodwin and Eddie Smith.
Alice was a huge animal lover and leaves her cat, Big Orange, to become part of her daughter’s cat family. She loved to hike the trails of the Smoky Mountains, which she knew like the back of her hand. As per her wishes, there will be no memorial service and her ashes will be returned to Tennessee.
Cremation Society of Kentucky, 4059 Shelbyville Road., Louisville, Ky., is charge of death arrangements.
