A head-on collision Tuesday on U.S. Highway 70 has left one local person dead and another injured.

Olivia G. Goddard, 27, was killed after the vehicle she was driving crossed into the path of another vehicle near Friendship Road. The other driver, a 60-year-old woman, was injured.

Loudon County E-911 Center Director Jennifer Estes said the call came in at 10:26 a.m.

Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, Loudon County Fire & Rescue, Lenoir City Fire Department, Priority Ambulance and Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Goddard and the other woman were transported to University of Tennessee Medical Center.

THP reported that Goddard was traveling westbound on Highway 70 when she failed to maintain her lane of travel and crossed the double yellow center line.

The other driver attempted to avoid Goddard, but Goddard hit the vehicle and her vehicle rotated 180 degrees before coming to rest on the side of the road. The other vehicle rotated 180 degrees and ended up in a ditch.

Goddard was not wearing her seat belt, according to THP.
