A Lenoir City man was arrested Thursday on domestic assault charges after a child called 911 to report screaming.

Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Christian Rogers responded to a home on Bird Road where a woman came to the door crying while wearing a bath towel. The woman said she and Anthony James Fowler, 34, were arguing when Fowler pushed her while she was in the shower and demanded her to talk.

When the woman did not talk, Fowler grabbed her by the throat, pushed her up against the wall and hit her in the face several times. Fowler told the woman he was going to burn her and the house down, Rogers wrote in a report.

Rogers observed abrasions and bruising on the woman’s neck and face. The shower curtain had been torn down and paint was scraped off the wall where the altercation occurred.

The woman said Fowler was physical the night before, so she told an 11-year-old child to call 911 if he heard screams.

Fowler said he did not know why deputies were at the home because he had only argued with the woman.

Fowler was charged with domestic assault-felony and held on $7,500 bond.

Drugs found on reckless driverLCSO deputies arrested a Lenoir City man April 21 after multiple complaints of reckless driving were called in to dispatch.

LCSO Deputy Caleb Green responded to Interstate 75 South near mile marker 79 after two callers complained of a vehicle driving “all over the roadway and had struck several street signs near the 81-mile marker,” Green wrote in a report.

Callers told dispatch the car had lost the front bumper and had a flat tire.

Green met Wallace Craig Cowan, 56, who was asked to perform field sobriety tests. Cowan performed poorly and was asked to stop for his safety.

Cowan consented to a blood draw and admitted he had consumed half of a “totem pole” 40 minutes prior to the incident. Cowan later clarified he had consumed part of a Xanax tablet.

He was searched at the Loudon County Jail, where officers found 11 2-milligram Alprazolam tablets in his sock and a strip of Suboxone.

Cowan was charged with contraband in a penal institution, simple possession/casual exchange, driving under the influence and due care and released on $8,000 bond.
