Loudon County saw four teams enter Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association Sectional Championship play, but only one remains after two rounds of play.

North Middle School's boys were handed a first-round loss at the hands of Ross Robinson, and the girls were dealt the same fate by Liberty Bell.

Ft. Loudoun's girls were able to pick up a first round win over Happy Valley, but they lost to Newport in round two.

Lenoir City Middle School’s boys, though, were able to stay alive through, at least, the semifinal game.

The Panthers knocked off Hampton in the opening round of the sectional Saturday and beat Newport Tuesday night.

At 5:45 p.m. Friday, Lenoir City will play one seed Grace Christian for a chance to play in the championship game at 4:15 p.m. Saturday. Both games are played at Pigeon Forge Middle School, which hosts the sectional every year.

The TMSAA sectional championship is the middle school equivalent of the high school’s state championship tournament.

Lenoir City's girls won the tournament last year and the boys are hoping to repeat.

In the regular season the Panthers went undefeated through district play before falling in the district championship game to Harriman, a team they could rematch in the championship of the sectional were they to make it that far.

Head coach Travis Gaskins said his team set winning a sectional championship as one of their major goals for the season.

Lenoir City did not play Grace during the regular season. Friday's game will be the first meeting for the two teams this year.
