James Robert "Jamie" Lawson, 79, Loudon, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at ParkWest Hospital. Jamie was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. A farmer, Jamie enjoyed caring for the land at his family's home place along with his brothers for the majority of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Thomas and Bettie Mae (Randolph) Lawson; sister, Hassie Lou (Sis) Garner; brothers, Bobby Ray, John, Junior and Bud Lawson. Survivors include brother and sister in-law, Bill (Cobb) and Nancy Lawson, Loudon; sisters and brothers in-law, Lillie and Lloyd Millsaps, Loudon, Shirley and Boyce Millsaps, Vonore, Ruby B. Williams, Knoxville; uncle, Robert Lawson, Loudon; sister in-law, Grace Lawson, Vonore. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the many prayers for Jamie during his illness and to the Poplar Springs Baptist Church and the staff of River Oaks for their care and many acts of kindness. Services honoring and remembering the life of Jamie Lawson will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 30 in McGill-Karnes Chapel with the Rev. Ron Davis and the Rev. Rick Kirkland officiating. Interment will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in Simpson Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Lawson officiating.
