Helen Brown Hunt, 69, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 in Jacksonville, Fla. She was born in Lenoir City to Ralph Brown and Dorothy Hazel Williams Brown. She moved to Jacksonville in the early 1960s after graduating from St. Augustine High School and later went on to receive her bachelor's degree. Helen and her husband, Bill, were married on Feb. 1, 1963.
She started to work with State Farm Insurance Company in June of 1961 and retired in 2006 with 45 years of service most of which was spent in the Georgia Auto Division. In her later years at State Farm she went into the State Farm Payment Plan Division where she retired as a supervisor. She had also worked in claims as well as in the South Carolina Auto Division.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; a brother, Wilburn Oscar (W.O.) Brown; a sister, Janice Gwendolyn Brown Young; and an infant sister and brother.
Helen was a loving person who touched many lives, as what brought her the most joy in life was doing for others and her love for family. She will truly be missed by all that knew her.
She leaves behind: her husband of 49 years, Bill; her son, Victor Hunt of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Mollie Hunt, Jacob Hunt and Lucas Hunt; two brothers and a sister, Curt Brown and his wife, Barbara of Loudon, Dillard Varnell Brown and his wife, Freda of Jacksonville, Fla., and Alice Sue Brown Wilson and her husband, Thomas, of Dothan, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, Fla., 32211 with the Rev. Cam Mullis officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all those that helped with Helen's care at the McGraw Center and asks that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, Fla., 32257.
