Albert F. Roberts, 77,of the Tellico Village Community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 14, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Schenectady, N.Y., to the late Albert and Mary Roberts. Al graduated from Draper High School in Schenectady and served his country in the Air Force Reserves.
He later moved to Flint, Mich., where he graduated from General Motors Institute with an engineering degree. His career with General Motors spanned 37 years and several states. He retired in 1996 and moved from Michigan to Tellico Village in 1998. Throughout his life, Al enjoyed home remodeling, boating, genealogy and traveling the world. He was the ultimate "Mr. Fix-It."
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Roberts and his sister Eleanor Polito. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Linda; his children Rick (Sondra) and Cindy (Andy Clark); step-children Bob Foxwell (Michele), Jim Foxwell and Cathy Sokoll (Darryl); grandchildren and step-grandchildren Brooke, Alison, Devin, Brendan, Marina and Mikail; and his brother Tom (Dedra).
Per his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no visitation or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
