Donald McEnteer, 84, of the Tellico Village Community, passed away on April 9, 2012.
He was born in Akron, Ohio, to the late Bernard and Anita Card McEnteer. He graduated from Akron Bechtel High School, and following graduation entered the U.S. Army and served his country proudly in the Korean War. On his return from war, he began his career in commercial retail ownership and management that continued until his death.
Don's joys in life came from his family and extended families, enjoying the beauty and solitude of nature, flying his airplane, taking Rinny to the dog park and golfing with good friends. He was a loving father, step-father and grandfather.
He is survived by: daughter, Kathy Kocher (Ron) of Akron, Ohio; son, Gary McEnteer (Gail) of Fairlawn, Ohio; and grandchildren, Halle and Reed McEnteer; daughter, Leslie Portwood of Bellefountain, Ohio; and grandsons, Cameron and Marshall Portwood.
He is also survived by his wife of 14 years, Ann, and the extended step-family that loved their "PapaDon" including Jodi Lewis (Van Whaley) and their daughter Anna; Kelly Hill (Adam); Amy Wakeman (Philip) and daughters Emma and Stella.
A celebration of life service was held 1 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Community Church at Tellico Village. The family received friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an animal shelter of your choice. Inurnment will be beside his parents at a later date in the Card Family Cemetery in Soddy-Daisy.
